Egg timer online

About

About Us

A free, fast egg timer built because most of the alternatives are either a bare countdown with no guidance, or a recipe article with no timer.

Why this site exists

Searching for how long to boil an egg gets you one of two things. Either a generic countdown tool that will happily time six minutes but tells you nothing about whether six minutes is right for your egg, or a long recipe article with the number buried three scrolls down and no way to actually time it.

[SITE NAME] does both on one page: pick a doneness, read what that doneness actually gives you, and start the clock without leaving.

Where our times come from

The times in our cooking guide are standard stovetop boiling times measured from a full rolling boil with cold eggs, cross-checked against widely published egg-cookery references and adjusted across the four common egg sizes. They are guidelines, not laboratory values — your stove, your pot, your water and your altitude all shift the result, which is exactly why the guide covers those variables rather than pretending one number fits everyone.

If a time in our guide does not match your kitchen, trust your kitchen and use the Custom timer.

How the timer works

The countdown is calculated from a fixed end timestamp rather than by counting ticks, so it stays accurate even when your browser throttles a background tab — which is what happens with most simple web timers if you switch away while the eggs cook. The alarm is generated in the browser rather than loaded as an audio file, so there is nothing to fail to download.

There are no accounts, no sign-ups, and nothing to install.
